Key Features and Updates
Claiming Real Money Rewards
One of the most exciting additions for Season 2 is the ability to redeem your real money rewards. Your league’s total rewards will be visible, dynamic, and you’ll also be able to view how much you could win if the season ended with your current standing.
For Season 2, we’re adding in the display and claiming functions for any rewards earned by your wallet in the previous season. These will be claimable at the start of Season 2, and will allow you to claim all reward earned by clubs in your wallet in one transaction, as well as displaying a breakdown across which Footium Clubs won which rewards.
Season 2’s rewards will also be updated in-game. To view your league’s current rewards, you’ll need to head to the leagues tab in your Footium hub, and click on rewards in the top right. This figure, updated periodically throughout the season, will increase as Club Owners in your division sign academy players, and make transfers directly contributing to your rewards.
For more information on exactly how rewards are calculated, and who will be eligible, read our guide to understanding rewards in Footium.
Season 1 Final Rewards

Season 1 Rewards (won by finishing in the top 5 in your league + not being inactive) will be claimable from the start of Season 2 pre-season. These rewards must be claimed before the end of Season 2, or else they will be registered as ‘unclaimed’ and will no longer be claimable.
Season 2 Initial Rewards
Season 2 rewards will continue increasing throughout Season 2 as more is spent on academy mints, legendary player auctions and player trades. You can read more about how rewards within Footium here.
Chemistry
One of the largest changes to squad building in Season 2, Chemistry will now be displayed in Tactics so you can see the impact of players playing outside of their natural positions. Alongside this, Legendary and Rare players will now have a positive impact on your team’s overall chemistry. This increases the impact of your star players, and makes out-of-position player debuffs clearer to understand. Aim for the green! (wrong sport).

Legendary Players
One of our most exciting additions in Season 2, is the launch of Legendary Players through limited-supply auctions. These are players that are a step above almost every other player in the Footium Football League and provide a great chemistry boost to your squad, but still require your focus and time to train — so make sure you’ve got the bibs and cones ready!

These unique players will boast high potential ratings (ranging between 95–99) and will add star power to Footium clubs. Legendary players will also unlock potential at a slightly faster rate than normal players, with the time to unlock potential in Season 2 being 300 minutes.
Legend auctions will kick off on the 14th of November, and will be available on OpenSea to view closer to the time. 50% of proceeds from Legendary Player auctions (after OpenSea fees) will be added to rewards, split equally across all Footium Leagues (and subsequently split across seasons in the 60:30:10 split as outlined in the Rewards article).
In Season 2, 12 Legendary Players will be auctioned, and 6 given out as rewards (these were won right at the start of Footium’s journey!).
The Legend auctions will take place in 3 batches of 4 legends (all times in UTC):
- Batch 1: Thursday 14th 5pm — Friday 15th 5pm
- Batch 2: Friday 15th 9am — Saturday 15th 9am
- Batch 3: Saturday 16th 9pm — Sunday 16th 9pm
The Amateur League
The Amateur League will make its debut in Season 2, creating a more competitive environment by providing a dedicated space for clubs that need reactivation. This addition ensures that the main Footium Football League remains vibrant and filled with active players.
For clubs who are now in the Amateur League, you wont be able to train, play matches, or receive academy prospects. To rejoin the FFL, you’ll need to request access by requesting to rejoin on your club page.
With real-money rewards continuing, and having introduced the Amateur League. The inactive warnings are continuing their presence in Footium, and you should keep an eye on if your club is flagged as inactive. If your club is inactive, it will be ineligible for rewards and may be relegated to the Amateur League if it is in Division 8 or Division 7 relegated zone.

Your club will display as inactive in the hub homepage, as well as showing green strikes on your club drop down menu. Make sure you’re active on any clubs you own (by completing one of the actions shown above) to avoid missing out on rewards.
Mobile & Tactics UX and UI
We care about community feedback, and this has been a key request from both desktop, and mobile-first Club Owners. We’re refining the tactics experience, particularly around saving incomplete lineups.
This groundwork will also support a more robust Saved Line-ups feature in the future, making it easier for managers to set and rotate squads effectively.

Season 2 will also bring user-friendly improvements to live-game management on mobile, enhancing the experience for on-the-go managers. These changes allow users to see more information about their players when making live-game changes, and also makes these changes more seamless.
Formations
We originally planned to remove specific formations during S1 to accommodate for the new LF & RF role, which we felt was a missing piece of Footium’s game economy and tactical system. After player feedback on the amount of notice provided for this change, these formations were re-added temporarily for Season 1, but will now be removed from Season 2 and onwards:
These formations will not be present in or after Season 2:
3–4–3-W (3 CBs, Wide Mids + 2 CMs, Wingers and a CF) 3–4–3-D (3 CBs, Wide Mids, AM + DM, Wingers and a CF) 5–4–1-WB (3 CBs, Wingbacks, Wide Mids, AM + DM and a CF)
The removal of these formations has been made for a multitude of reasons, which are aimed at ensuring that the game economy is sustainable and balanced long term, as well as providing the right foundations for future match engine improvements and tactical options.
Minor Fixes
We’ve made improvements to the network selection logic (if you connect with the wrong network, you should be prompted to move to Arbitrum) and also introduced a fix to make tactical changes during games smoother.
Economy Balancing
Based on our analysis of Season 1, we’ve made some tweaks to the minutes played to unlock potential for players from the previous 350 minutes per potential point, which is now as follows:
Legendary Players = 300 minutes
Rare Players = 320 minutes
Common, Bronze, Silver and Gold Players = 380 minutes
We have also slightly tweaked the curve on which time to train (based on already used potential) is calculated.
We want to ensure that the balance of strategy around training vs playing players remains engaging, and also to give special players the chance to reach their maximum potential before their career ends (given a good strategy around their usage and training).
Training
Training will be open from 1pm UTC on Gameday 1 (Tuesday 19th November) until 1pm UTC on Gameday 22 (Tuesday 10th December). Any training sessions in progress when training closes will be automatically finished and the intended rating increase, potential point usage + condition impact applied.
Academy refresh
As with all Footium Seasons, you’ll once again have access to new academy prospects to sign in your academy page at the launch of the season. Alongside this, Season 1 academy prospects have now been released from your club.
Signing players will continue to require you to have Ethereum in your Arbitrum wallet and be on the Arbitrum Network. Signing prospects will add them permanently to your squad, with 90% of the payment contributing to rewards in your division.
As with Season 1, signing prices are adjusted each season to account for changes in ETH price, as well as ensure the Footium economy stays balanced. Updated divisional prices can be found below.

Remember: Academy players when signed go straight into the squad even if the registration window is closed. Academy Player prices are set per division, with an increase towards Division 1, to reflect the talent of the players coming through each division, and there may be some difference between seasonal prices — dependent on a variety of factors.
Known Bugs
- Very rare occurrences of weird event displays around Own goals
- Division + League in search bar doesn’t update with promotion + relegation
- Players in training don’t show in the best alternatives list on tactics
- Goalkeepers infrequently take set pieces
- Sometimes events will freeze when streaming a live match (refreshing the page fixes this)
- Train player button appears on unowned players (you can’t actually train them)
- Mobile training UI can require sideways scrolling to access the pitch UI to select training spot
- Issue with OpenSea display of Stadium Capacity (in-game capacity is correct)
