What’s New in Season 13 — The Season Footium Opens Its Doors 🚪⚽

Season 13 is where everything we’ve been building finally comes together, the season that sets the stage for Footium’s hard launch.

Over the past year, we’ve been building on top of a live game, adding: transfer market, coaching, registration windows, infrastructure improvements & much more. This update ties it all together, with new onboarding, social wallets, fiat payments and referral systems designed to bring the next wave of managers into the Footium Football League.

It’s the bridge between the early years of Footium and the mainstream era that begins next season.

🏗 Laying the Foundations

This season pieces everything together to give Footium the foundation it needs to truly scale.

The in-game transfer market was the first step. Season 13 connects the rest: onboarding, payments, communications, and referrals. It’s the technical groundwork that turns Footium from an early-access Web3 game into a platform ready for mainstream growth.

It’s our most important update yet.

⚙️ The New Player Journey

One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced over the past year hasn’t been building the game, it’s been getting new people into it.

We’ve built a deeply retentive, competitive football management game, but for new players, the setup process was complex. You needed to create a wallet, understand crypto, buy a club on a third-party site, then source players across marketplaces before you could even start managing.

That friction has limited our ability to grow. It made paid marketing impossible, we couldn’t run proper campaigns or reach mainstream football fans when the first step was a technical tutorial.

Season 13 removes that barrier entirely.

We’ve rebuilt the entire player journey so that anyone, even with zero Web3 knowledge, can join Footium in minutes.

Now a new player can:

• Create an account with email or Google — a secure wallet is generated automatically in the background via Privy.
• Choose their path — play for free as a Caretaker Manager or buy a Starter Bundle in a few clicks with a credit or debit card.
• Start managing immediately — no crypto setup, no external sites, no confusion.

This transformation doesn’t just make Footium easier to play, it finally makes it marketable.

With these systems in place, we can begin proper paid marketing campaigns this season: driving real traffic, testing new channels, and bringing fresh managers into the league for the first time at scale. This not only benefits the health of the game long term but also makes it more exciting & engaging for current managers.

Season 13 is where the experience catches up with the ambition and where Footium’s growth truly begins.

💳 Fiat Onramp

Season 13 introduces a proper fiat payment system - which, in simple terms, means you can finally use normal cash to buy into Footium.

You can now buy clubs and players directly in-game using your credit or debit card through the new Starter Bundles powered by our new integration with MoonPay. No crypto setup. No exchanges. No external websites. Just a smooth, secure checkout flow that feels like any other online purchase, but gives you full ownership of your club and players inside Footium.

We’ll expand this across the Academy and Transfer Market soon, making it just as easy to scout new talent or promote youth prospects without touching an exchange.

🧩 Starter Bundles

If Fiat onboarding & Social wallets remove the barriers, Starter Bundles open the door to truly grow Footium.

Each bundle gives new managers everything they need to start playing immediately:

No more juggling wallets or piecing together squads across marketplaces, it’s all done in one smooth flow, right on the Footium site.

We’ve also built infrastructure to create new clubs internally, so we’re no longer reliant on third-party marketplaces. This isn’t about expanding the league, we’re replacing inactive Division 8 clubs with fresh, fully playable ones similar to the New Era Club Sale in 2024. That means more Caretakers, more active managers, and a stronger, healthier Footium ecosystem for everyone.

🔑 Social Wallets Fully Integrated

After a successful first-half rollout last season, social wallets are now fully live.

New users can sign up with email or Google; a secure, non-custodial wallet is created automatically in the background. Together with fiat payments and Starter Bundles, it means anyone can join Footium without having any crypto knowledge - the way it should be!

🫱 Your own Referral Link

Historically, it’s been tricky to get your mates involved in Footium and there hasn’t always been much in it for you. That changes this season. With the improved onboarding and, for the first time, a fully automated referral system built directly into the game, inviting new managers has never been easier.

You might have already spotted the new Invite button in-game. That’s your personal referral link, automatically tracking every new signup and Starter Bundle purchase you bring in.

Every successful referral earns you 20% referral fee from the Starter Bundle sale, while climbing a reward ladder filled with in-game prizes all the way up to a Legendary Player at the top.

Referrals will only be open during specific pre-season windows, and each run will include new incentives on top of the standard rewards.

To kick things off, anyone who reaches 3 or more referrals this season will also earn a Prime Silver Player (Aged 23-27)

It’s a system that finally rewards Footium’s most valuable asset, its community. The more managers you bring in, the stronger and more competitive the league becomes for everyone!

⛽ Gas Sponsorship

To make onboarding completely friction-free, gas fees are now covered for all social wallet users, so there are no network costs when you’re just trying to get started.

This has been made possible thanks to a grant from Arbitrum, supporting our mission to make Footium feel like a football game first — and a Web3 product second.

🪙 Legendary Auctions Return with GBM

Legendary Auctions are back for Season 13 once again powered by GBM’s Bid-to-Earn technology. Even if you don’t win the player, you can still earn ETH rewards by placing bids early and getting outbid later.

Legendary Players are the rarest cards in Footium unique 1/1s with huge potential and careers that can define a club for years. Securing one doesn’t just strengthen your squad… it shapes your trophy ambitions.
