📍 Season 15 Is Here

Last season was a big one for the game. We welcomed Dimitar Berbatov into the Footium world, saw him create his own mini league, and watched it smash our previous mini-league record with 263 clubs competing. Alongside that, we hit our biggest days on social in 2025, learned a huge amount from recent marketing activity, and gathered momentum that gives us plenty to build on as we head towards a big 2026.

After a big push across Seasons 13 and 14, Season 15 lands just after the Christmas and New Year period. With a bit of natural disruption as people took a break to enjoy the holidays, we’re being mindful not to overload this update with anything too major! Instead, the focus this season is on strengthening key areas of the game, learning from recent growth and marketing activity, and setting things up properly for the year ahead.

As usual, Legendary Auctions will return during pre-season, alongside a number of behind-the-scenes improvements. We’re also putting a major spotlight on a new community-built tool, launching with support from a Footium Community Grant.

🧠 SquadScoutPro: A New Community Tool

One of the most amazing things about the Footium community is the quality of builders it continues to attract.

When OG community member Joe shared a preview of SquadScoutPro with us alongside a Community Grant request, we were genuinely blown away by the depth, polish and usefulness of what he’d built. It’s a great example of the kind of projects that emerge when passionate managers start building around the game!

SquadScoutPro is a community-built tool that pulls together live Footium data into a clean, easy-to-use dashboard, designed to help managers plan ahead, stay organised and scout more effectively.

The tool includes features such as:

• Club and squad overviews
• Lineups and upcoming fixtures
• Player, academy and training tracking
• League insights and opponent scouting

After reviewing the project, we’ve approved SquadScoutPro for a Community Grant, which supports a number of planned deliverables over the next three months. This includes continued improvements to the dashboard and the development of a notification system designed to help managers keep track of things like matches, training and other key moments.

💬 SquadScoutPro Feedback Channel

Alongside the launch of SquadScoutPro, we’re opening a dedicated feedback channel in Discord focused specifically on this tool.

This is a brand new community project, so we’re sure many of you will have thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how it could be improved over time. The channel is the best place to:

• Share what you find useful
• Suggest improvements or missing features
• Flag bugs or edge cases
• Help shape where SquadScoutPro goes next

Joe will be actively reading and iterating based on feedback, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the discussion too. If you try the tool, this is your chance to directly influence how it evolves.

🔧 Behind the Scenes in Season 15

With Season 15 landing over the Christmas and New Year period, it’s naturally a more disrupted time for both players and the team. Shipping large new features around a holiday code freeze isn’t always the right moment to introduce changes that could risk things breaking while everyone is switching off. That said, a lot of important work is still happening under the hood!

Our recent marketing efforts have given us much clearer insight into how new managers discover Footium, where they get confused and what helps them reach the point of actually playing the game. That learning is feeding directly into ongoing onboarding flow improvements, with the aim of making the journey from sign-up to managing your club clearer and faster.

We’re also continuing work on automated emails, improving how and when we guide managers through key moments as they first enter the game. On the technical side, we’re addressing necessary academy configuration changes, resolving scale-related issues, and tidying up areas of tech debt. None of this is flashy, but it’s essential work that keeps Footium stable, scalable and ready for the updates to come in the new year.

🤝 Referrals: A Reminder of What’s on the Line

Referrals have always been part of Footium’s long-term vision, and with that has come a referral ladder designed to reward managers who help grow the game.

Over time, we’ve tried a few different ways of surfacing and framing referrals, and one thing we’ve learned is that the value at the top of the ladder hasn’t always been obvious enough.

📈 The Referral Ladder (and Why It Matters)

The Referral Ladder ends in a Legendary player. That’s not a new addition, and it’s not something we take lightly.

Legendary players are 1/1, season-defining assets, and we don’t hand them out casually. Outside of Legendary Auctions, there are very few ways to earn one at all, and the referral ladder sits firmly in that category.

Reaching the top of the ladder is intentionally difficult. It’s designed to reward managers who meaningfully contribute to the growth of the game over time, not one-off invites or short-term pushes. You can track your referrals and ladder progress directly in-game.

🎁 A Proven Reward, Upgraded

Alongside the ladder, we’re also bringing back a reward that proved popular the first time we ran referrals, this time with a clear step up in quality.

👉 Refer 3 new managers and you’ll earn a high-quality Silver player.

If you’ve got a friend who’s been curious about Footium or enjoys games like FM or fantasy football, this is a great moment to bring them in.

As we head into 2026, referrals remain something we’ll continue to refine and improve. But the fundamentals haven’t changed: real contribution should lead to real rewards!

As always, these pre-season moments offer a rare opportunity to secure 1/1 Legendary players, assets that can define a club’s identity and legacy for seasons to come. Legendary players aren’t handed out lightly in Footium, and auctions remain one of the very few ways to compete for them directly.
