⚽️ Season 19 Incoming

Demand for Footium has been climbing fast over the last few months. More new managers signing up, more caretaker clubs upgrading, more player academy signings, rewards continuing to climb across the leagues and a lot more pressure on the systems powering the game day to day.

That's the headline going into Season 19. A big focus this season has been making sure Footium can handle that growth properly with major improvements to live match infrastructure, onboarding systems and a lot of cleanup across the game off the back of everything we've shipped over recent seasons.

Alongside that, FC daily claiming is in, the stadium upgrade experience has had a big visual overhaul and the Milestone onboarding system gets another round of upgrades and caretaker improvements.

Caretaker Clubs will also continue to be improved for Season 19. Demand from new managers has been so high over recent seasons that we've regularly run close to running out of available caretaker clubs, with thousands of players now using them as their entry point into Footium before taking over their own club.

⚡ Scale Improvements

One of the biggest ongoing focuses for the team right now is infrastructure and scale.

Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen demand for the game continue to grow rapidly, especially following onboarding improvements and the expansion of the Caretaker system. Caretaker Clubs have been disappearing faster than ever, upgrades have continued climbing and overall activity & rewards across the FFL has kept growing season after season.

That’s exactly the direction we want the game heading, but it also means our systems need to evolve quickly alongside it. A huge amount of work recently has gone into improving the infrastructure powering live matches and core game systems. A lot of this work happens behind the scenes, but it’s very important work and will continue to be a major focus moving forward.

The goal is simple: support significantly more managers entering the game while continuing to improve the live match experience, overall stability and the foundations needed for much bigger features and long-term growth across the FFL!

💰 FC Claiming

Log in, claim FC, repeat. There’s free FC waiting for you on the homepage every single day, giving managers a steady stream of FC to put towards stadium upgrades and long-term club progression over the course of the season.

FC Claiming was quietly introduced during Season 18 as a lightweight way to encourage daily check-ins and make the game feel more rewarding on a day-to-day basis. Since then, the response has been far bigger than we expected, with over 1,000 clubs on average claiming FC every single day throughout the season.

🏟 Stadium Customisation & UI/UX Overhaul

The whole stadium upgrade experience has been reworked, with two big additions:

• Preview before you buy: You can now see exactly what your stand will look like in each material (Brick, Stone, Metal, Dark Metal) before committing any FC. No more guessing what you're going to end up with.
• Choose your stand colours: This one's been asked for a lot. There's now a massive range of primary and secondary seat colour combinations to pick from, so you can actually make your ground feel like yours.

Hoping to see some genuinely wild colour combos out there, go nuts!

🏆 Improved Milestone System

Milestones launched in S18 as a more interactive way for new managers to learn Footium, dropping them into real match scenarios instead of asking them to read a guide.

In Season 19, we're continuing to refine and expand it.

The flow has been updated to create a smoother onboarding journey, helping new managers understand the core systems more naturally and guiding them through key actions earlier in their experience. We've made changes based directly on how players have been interacting with Milestones over the last season.

The long-term goal stays the same:

• Reduce onboarding friction
• Help new managers understand Footium faster
• Build confidence early
• Smooth the path from caretaker to full club owner

🛠 Caretaker Experience & General Fixes

We've shipped a lot over the last few seasons. Stadiums, FC, Milestones, the new caretaker homepage, notifications, UI overhauls. With that much new stuff going in, some bugs and rough edges were inevitable, particularly around the caretaker experience.

Season 19 includes a big round of fixes and polish across the caretaker journey, alongside general stability and quality-of-life improvements across the whole game.

🌍 Community Nation Voting Continues

Panama joins Footium as the latest nation added through community voting, continuing our World Cup themed nation expansion.

Over the coming seasons, we'll keep running community votes focused on World Cup nations not yet in the game, giving managers a direct say in which countries and player pools arrive next.

🔥 Expanded Auction System

As always, Legendary Auctions return during pre-season. These are the highest-potential players in Footium, with 95–99 potential, and they don't enter the game anywhere else. One of these can shape your club for seasons to come.

For Season 19, we're expanding the auction system for the first time ever.

Alongside the Legends, each auction batch will now also include Bronze, Silver and Gold reward players, giving more managers a chance to get involved across different budget levels and adding a lot more variety to the auction experience.

Auction Format:

• 24-hour auctions with full-day bidding windows
• 5-minute extensions on last-minute bids
• No bid removals, what you bid is what you pay
• Earn rewards when outbid, even if you don't win you still earn

We're excited to see more managers getting involved in auctions this season, whether that's chasing a club-defining Legend or picking up valuable reward players across the new Bronze, Silver and Gold auctions.

📊 Behind the Scenes

The last few seasons have shown what consistent focus on onboarding, infrastructure and growth can do.

Caretaker signups have continued climbing, upgrades are tracking strong and overall activity across the FFL keeps growing. A lot of the work this season has gone into making sure Footium can continue supporting that growth properly, with major improvements to onboarding, live match infrastructure and overall game stability.

That foundation is now starting to pay off. The onboarding flow is in a much stronger place, infrastructure has scaled significantly and it gives us more room to push harder on the core game itself over the coming seasons, from club systems and engine improvements to deeper long-term gameplay features and overall polish.
