⚠️ PSA: Scammers Are Getting Smarter – Stay Safe in Footium
Scams are on the rise again. Since OpenSea removed the “Deals” feature, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in dodgy tactics and most of it’s happening in private DMs.
If you’re doing trades in DMs, approving contracts you don’t understand, or dealing outside public channels, you’re at serious risk.
🚨 What We’re Seeing
Scammers are evolving their approach. Recent reports include:
- Fake usernames mimicking trusted users (like willyrover.)
- Links to Arbiscan asking you to manually approve malicious contracts
- QR codes sent via DM
- Requests for screenshots or screen sharing
- “Private deals” or “recovery help” offers that sound helpful but are just bait
❌ What Not to Do
- Don’t scan QR codes sent in a DM
- Don’t approve contracts unless you fully understand what they do
- Don’t do trades in DMs — even with people you think you know
- Don’t send screenshots or screen share your wallet
- Don’t trust anyone offering to help recover assets
✅ What You Should Do Instead
- Stick to official OpenSea listings
- Only trade in Footium’s public Discord trading channels
- Tag users in the server to confirm their identity
- Open a ticket in 📧│open-ticket if you’re unsure — we’re happy to help
- Turn off DMs from strangers
🧠 Golden Rule
If someone wants to do a deal in DMs — assume it’s a scam.
Keep it public. Keep it safe.
